Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape (KT Tape) is a breathable, water-resistant, longitudinally elastic tape that has multiple uses for clinicians such as MDs, PTs, DCs, ATCs as well as many other medical and health care professionals.
Used in virtually every clinical taping application, including:
KT Tape Pro is the new choice for clinicians who demand more out of their kinesiology tape. With 20% more tape per roll and superior adhesive qualities, KT Tape Pro provides exceptional value and quality. KT Tape Pro also includes an advanced Step Frequency (SF) adhesive that is 25% stronger than other brands, providing greater support and durability- even in the water.
KT Tape can be used in techniques and applications of both the white athletic tape and McConnell® taping by placing the tape on partial or full stretch, though it has several features for additional techniques and benefit. KT tape’s construction allows for both more versatile use and longer duration use than other common taping.
Unlike brands that require cutting or are limited to just a single application, KT Tape Pro Pre-cut strips save clinics time and money without limiting your flexibility to use your traditional treatment modalities. The 10″ strips easily rip off the roll and can be used as either “I” or “Y” strips without cutting. Clinics report that precut strips work for 90% of the in-clinic applications and that patients feel it is more comfortable to wear.
Proprioception: KT tape can be used to create pressure over ligaments and tendons for improved proprioception and dynamic stability. This also has been theorized to stimulate mechanoreceptors thus improving proprioception. Diagnoses for these techniques include — ankle sprains, medial and lateral ligament sprains of the knee and patella tendonitis among many other applications.
Functional Correction. KT taping can also be used for functional correction that is assisting or limiting a motion through sensory stimulation and tactile cueing. Applications include position-and-hold technique and work very well for diagnoses which include patellofemoral dysfunction, subacromial impingement due to scapula/postural dysfunction.
Cueing and Pain Relief. KT tape
also has elastic properties which mimic elasticity of human skin and these
elastic qualities can be used to cue or assist the movements such as with the
use of dropfoot or loss of muscle tone as well as rotator cuff insufficiency.
KT tape’s elasticity can also be used for fascial repositioning or correction.
This can be applied to such diagnoses as lateral epicondylitis and iliotibial
KT tape has also demonstrated reduction of pain through tactile stimulation possibly utilizing the gait control theory of the pain and has been sighted in studies as being effective for acute cervicalgia. Kinesiology taping techniques have also been used as a lymphatic assist by creating areas of decreased pressure to direct exudates to the nearest lymphatic duct in theory. This has been shown to reduce ecchymosis after initial muscle strain of impact injury as well as reducing edema in extremities.
Recommended in Storage Instruction. To maintain optimal performance, KT TAPE PRO should be stored in a cool, dry, well ventilated place. Avoid extended exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures (above 95 degrees Fahrenheit) and or high humidity (above 65 degrees Fahrenheit). Best performance if used within 1 year of purchase.
